Fasting in Islam is the act of abstaining from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset. Fast-a-Thon is a collaborative effort between Al-Madinah Cultural Center and the Muslim Students Association. It is a yearly event where we bring attention to the Islamic pillar of fasting, how it ties into religion, and the similarities/differences of the cultural role it plays all over the world. Fast-a-Thon is an event that is held at MSAs all over the United States and we’re proud to continue that tradition here at the University of Minnesota.

Get Involved

The Al-Madinah Executive Board can only do so much on our own, thus we require the help of volunteers and several committees throughout the year to fulfill our mission. Not only does this help us but it gives you many opportunities to get involved. The committees include the First Year Mentoring Program Committee, College Day Committee, and the Islam Awareness Week Committee. If you don’t get a chance to be apart of one of these committees, you can always volunteer at our events! We also have monthly volunteering events where Al-Madinah and it’s general body help out in the great twin-cities community.

Looking for a job, internship, or volunteer experience for fall semester? Many employers send us job opportunities for our general body. Take a look at the job postings to see if anything would be a good fit for you!
