Mothers of the Believers: Marriages of Prophet Muhammad: Saturday, Nov 19 at 6 in Moos

Combining rationality and facts from Seerah, this seminar is designed to help the audience understand, learn, and counter common criticisms against the Prophet while boosting their faith as well.

This event will be held at the Malcolm Moos Health Sciences Tower at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in room 2-650 from 6:00-9:00pm.

Visiting Speaker: Imam Kamil Mufti
Educated at the University of Texas at Austin, Imam Kamil Mufti devoted himself to years of the study of Aqeeda, tafsir, hadith, fiqh, and the Arabic language that took him from the deserts of Mauritania to the dusty streets of Cairo. In Quran, he holds formal ijaza in recitation through one of the shortest isnads in the world to the Prophet. He also holds formal ijaza to transmit fiqh and all major books of hadith. The Imam studied advanced texts of Islamic creed with scholars including Sheikh Hasan al-Homaid, a former mufti of Qatar. His foremost teacher was Sheikh al-Murabit Salim al-Addud as-Shinqiti. He studied hadith terminology (mustalah) with Sheikh Mustafa al-Azami (Dar al-‘Uloom, Deoband and Oxford University). He is a member of American Muslim Jurists Association (AMJA), North American Imam’s Federation (NAIF), and is board member of Central IL Interfaith Alliance. He has been awarded by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for clarifying difference between hate, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion. His civil rights efforts culminated by the passing of the resolution against Islamophobia by his home city in IL in July, 2016. He has been invited to the President’s National Prayer Breakfast in Feb 2017 at the White House. | |
